SPECIAL EVENTS.....


Conformation, Handling, Obedience and Rally Classes

Classes are held at Family Pet Obedience School Training Center,
please check the schedules. 
  • All Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club (SMKC) members will be given a 10% discount on tuition for obedience and rally classes. 
  • Conformation handling classes are sponsored by the SMKC. 

Community Service 

Our club strives to be active in all phases of community service.  In the past we have donated bullet proof vests for Forsyth County and Lumpkin County K-9 officers.  

​The club has donated a bite suit for Lumpkin County and has distributed a supply of animal resuscitation masks to Cherokee County, Hall County, City of Gainesville, Dawson County and Lumpkin County Fire Departments or First Responders.  Additionally K-9  training suits for Forsyth County, special ballistic and stab proof K-9 vests for the 2 bomb dogs in Hall County, bullet-proof vests and cool vests  for the K-9 dogs in Gainesville, Habersham, White, Dawson,  Lumpkin and Cherokee Counties have been provided for the health and protection of the K-9 officers.In order to further the mission and dedication of the club to animal assistance,

SMKC contributes to community, state and national dog related organizations.  Dawson County Human Society, Humane Society of Forsyth County, AHIMSA House, and  breed rescue groups have received support.

The club annually supports the advancements in canine health and research through contribution to AKC Canine Health Foundation, Rabies Challenge Fund, UGA Sundown Surgery Fund, UGA Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Fund, and Tufts Medical Center (Canine Gastric Cancer Research).  

The club is active with Disaster Preparedness and Dog Owner Responsibility education.  SMKC has donated to the AKC Pet Disaster Relief Fund which provides emergency trailers, and supplies for displaced dogs during disasters managed by the emergency management organizations of the states and counties.Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club continues to support the sport of dogs with owner education programs, health clinics, and promotion of welfare.​​

 

About Us

The Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club was established in 1988 as a nonprofit organization to the advancement of the pure bred dog and recently with AKC acceptance of the mixed breed dog promotes canine education, health, welfare, and works to protect the rights of all dog owners.

​SMKC became a member of the American Kennel Club in 2007.  As an AKC licensed all-breed club SMKC holds pointed conformation, obedience and Rally events.  

The club is a member of the Cherokee Rose Cluster and holds two ALL-Breed/ Obedience and Rally Shows yearly. In addition the club also offers Obedience & Rally Events in Cumming, GA.  Conformation classes and  Matches are offered to the public.  

​Each year our members and dog teams that have achieved Titles in Conformation, Companion and Performance sports are recognized.​


Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club meets the second Wednesday each month.  Interested or potential Dog owners are welcome to attend our meeting.
